National Voters Day held : Stress laid on keeping voters informed

The 11th National Voters' Day 2021 was observed today on the theme "Making our voters empowered, vigilant, safe and informed" under the aegis of the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, at JN Dance Academy, Imphal.
Director General of Police LM Khaute attend the observance as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated Epic Mobile Application, an initiative taken by the CEO.
He stated that he is also closely associated with the election process for over three decades in his career and that the Police Department is closely working together with various stake holders in the Government as well as in other areas.

"In the past, due to lack of infrastructure and security forces, we faced a lot of problems in terms of security in the hill areas and elections in those days were very difficult exercise," KM Khaute remarked.
He expressed his appreciation over the progress that has been achieved by the Election Commission of India which has bolstered election mechanism in the country including Manipur.
"In the present scenario, we have adequate mechanism to check all malpractices and also police nodal officers are deployed to make necessary security arrangements in accordance with the guidelines of ECI , flying squads are also deployed.
Unlike in the past elections, the ECI has roped in a number of modern technology based applications", said the DGP.
PK Singh, CEO in his speech said, "We as citizens of India take pride in calling ourselves the largest democracy, even though we may not be the most developed country.
Election after election we have demonstrated that the fabric of democracy has strengthened".
The CEO showed his appreciation to all the ROs, DEOs, EROs and BLOs for all the support they have rendered.
He stated the State has achieved 100 percent Epic coverage and the Epic Mobile Application would be launched on January 26 for the first time in the country.
State awards were also conferred on Neeta Arambam, IAS for Best All Round Performer and EROs of 30-Lilong AC, 27-Moirang, 29 Kumbi ACs, 7- Andro AC, 21-Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, 22-Wangoi, 58-Churachandpur AC, 50-Kangpokpi AC and to 61 BLOs including one (L) Sheingam LH.
Epic Cards and badges were also distributed to 11 newly enrolled voters and also to four SVEEP icons.
Nungsitombi Athokpam, State Election Commissioner and K Bono Singh, Joint Secretary (Election) attended the observance as guests of honour, apart from other dignitaries and invitees.
