Public discourse on 'Bridging Gap' conducted

Senapati, January 25 2021:
The Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (Maram Students Union) held a public discourse with the theme "Bridging Gap" and on the issues "Maralui at crossroads" at the Conference Hall of Maram Union Secretariat Complex, Senapati DHQ, today.
The programme chaired by Pungdi Celestine was attended by all the Maram tribe organizations, intellectuals, leaders, politicians and MKS senior members.
Dr Ngouniba Peter, Dr Kaba Anthony and MS Jerome also' attended the public discourse as panelists.
During the programme, MKS President Bosco Kashung delivered the Presidential address, Livingstone Joshua introduced the dignitaries and Hingba Mathias gave the closing remarks.
Rev Kaba Maram and Kabi Samuel took over the prayers of the day.
Hingba John, Vice Chairman, ADC stated that in the beginning, Maram people fought with their strength to rule and protect its land and yet in those times unity was upheld as the people were humble and disciplined in their cause.
However, with the passage of time, leaders have recognised the importance of politics.
The Maram people are at crossroads now with the leaders being led by their own political dreams and desires.
Such desirs have created mistrust and misunderstanding in the community, he added.
Former RD & PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa, spoke on the topic "Bridging Inter generational Gap" where he pointed out various generation gaps like the differences in the value system such as marriage and death rituals, valuation of commodities, methods of farming, male dominance and the difference in perspective on political and social issues.
Francis Ngajokpa also advocated strongly on preserving the unity and identity of the tribe and to impart leadership quality, charitable spirit, patience, tolerance and concern for others.
The three member Panelist concluded the programme with the following recommendations-Involve youth participation in decision making, Bridge inter generational gap by conducting meetings and discourse frequently, Inculcate the spirit of openness, tolerance and inclusiveness and strengthen Maram Union and MKS to spearhead the various issues.
