Kakching, December 08 2022:
Kharou Khunou High School and Ayapurel Government Junior High School located in Rilam Centre area of Tengnoupal district were found to be in pitiable condition during an inspection visit conducted by social worker TK Moshilpha along with media persons on Thursday.
Kharou Khunou High School is the only high school in Rilam centre area.
Its classrooms walls have crumbled as they were constructed without maintaining quality.
In addition to absence of proper doors and windows, there is no bench and desk for the students.
When the inspection team arrived at the school around 2 pm, there was no teacher but information about three teachers including a graduate teacher and three primary teachers were seen inscribed on the wall of the school.
Surprisingly, not a single classroom which is feasible to teach students is present at the school while the campus is overgrown with tall bushes.
Similarly, the team led by TK Moshilpha also visited Ayapurel Government Junior High School but found no teacher there.
According to the photo attached on the school wall, there are six teaching staff and two non-teaching staff.
Out of the six rooms of the school, five do not have doors, while the school has only three pairs of desks and benches.
The school building is also on the verge of collapse.
Speaking in this regard, TK Moshilpha informed that parents and guardians are not willing to send their children to the schools in view of the shabby condition.
As such, they have been facing tremendous inconveniences in sending their wards to schools located in valley areas.
Urging authorities concerned to repair infra structures of both schools before the upcoming academic session, Moshilpha demanded posting of adequate number of teachers to ensure proper education to students and reduce the burden faced by people of the area.
