Man arrested with 3.046 Kg brown sugar

Imphal, December 08 2022:
A combined team of Assam Rifles, Saikul post and Saikul police arrested a man along with 3.046 Kg of brown sugar while conducting frisking and checking at Saikul village near water supply on Wednesday.
The arrestee has been identified as Ngamlenthang Khongsai (32) son of Chingjang Khongsai of Maojang village in Kangpokpi district.
According to police, based on information of suspicious movement of drug peddlers, a combined team of Saikul police station led by sub-inspector Seiginlen Kipgen and 22 AR, Saikul COB led by Major Bhopesh Sharma carried out frisking and stopped a TVS Ntorq scooty (red and white) driven by Ngamlenthang Khongsai.
As he was behaving in a very suspicious manner, the combined team interrogated him upon which he admitted to be a drug peddler transporting illegal drugs from Maojang village to Imphal along the Saikul to Imphal road.
On further checking in the presence of Executive Magistrate and observing all formalities, 3.046 Kg of brown sugar were recovered from the possession of the arrestee, the police informed, adding that an FIR has been registered for further investigations.
