A 3.5 feet tall statue (bust) of Rani Gaidinliu installed in a public park at Rail Vihar Colony of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh (UP) under the initiative of UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, was unveiled by Gorakhpur city mayor Sitaram Jaiswal on December 6.Speaking at the programme jointly organised by Sewa Samarpan Sanathan, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Municipal Corporation, Gorakhpur, mayor Sitaram Jaiswal praised Rani Gaidinliu as a true daughter of 'Bharat mata', who fought against the British for the freedom of our country.
On other front, she clashed against conversion crusade of Christian missionaries who were in league with Christian terrorists, the major said.
"The story of freedom struggle of Rani Gaidinliu is a golden chapter of Bharatiya history.
The life of Rani Gaidinliu is a source of inspiration for all of us like Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi," the mayor added.
UP Goraksh Prant RSS chief Prof Prithviraj Singh pointed out that people in other parts of the country generally believe that all Nagas are Christian and all Christian Nagas are anti-national.
"But this is not true.
Neither all Nagas are Christian nor are all Christian Nagas anti-Indian.
There are a handful of misguided youth who are spearheading the secessionist armed struggle at gun point and those who oppose them are gunned down", he contended.
The function was marked by Zeliangrong Heraka devotional song followed by Heraka dance presented by Naga students of Ram Vanvasi Chhatrawas, Gorakhpur.
The unveiling function was also attended by luminaries from Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, RSS, BJP and other socio-cultural organisations of Gorakhpur.
