Imphal, March 01 2014 :
Expressing serious concern over giving admission to additional students, who were not selected in the lottery of Class I and Class n, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF ) has announced a ban on conducting classes of Little Flower School, Imphal with effect from March 5 until an understanding is brought between the school authority and the student's body.
In a press statement, MSF alleged that although 130 students each were chosen for admission to Class I and Class II in a lottery conducted some time back, nearly 300 students each were admitted in the school, which was a clear sign of presence of favouritism in the school.
Alleging that extra students were given admission by taking money from their parents, MSF questioned the purpose of conducting lottery if the school authority had to give admission to students of their choice in such a manner.
Urging the students, parents, transporters and all concerned not to take the ban as a violation of right to education, MSF said that the prohibition is a step to check favouritism and irregularity.
Saying that the guardian association of the school must not take the issue lightly, MSF said that number of vacant seats must be clearly announced by school authorities prior to the lottery from the next academic session.
It added that the number of forms issued by the school authority and the selected students in the lottery must also be clearly notified to the general public from the next academic session.
