Campaign for PLHIVs held

Imphal, March 02 2014 :
With an aim to curb violence against women living with HIV in the family, community & society, to stop social stigma & discrimination, to expedite the available services, entitlement schemes and benefits in respect of PLHIVs positively, a day-long o campaign on demand of basic services and human rights for people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHIV) in Manipur was held at Manipur Press Club here today.
The campaign was organized jointly by Women Action for Development (WAD), Christian Network of Positive Women, Manipur (CNPW), FXB, Self Support Group (SSG), CoNE, World Vision & Hope Care.
Altogether 150 People from various organizations participated in the programme during which R.K.Nalinikanta, President of CoNE and Chitra Ahanthem addressed on "Basic services for PLHIVs & proper community basic amenities of ART centres & State AIDS Policy implementation" and " Basic entitlement schemes and benefits" respectively.

Jiteshwari of CNPW also shared their testimonies on the occasion.
At the end of the campaign, a memorandum highlighting a charter of demands in this regard was also submitted to the Chief Minister & all the MLAs of Manipur.
