Health and Family Welfare Services and State Health Society Manipur, launched intensified pulse polio immunisation programme at the premises of Family Welfare Services today.
Health and Family Welfare Minister, L Jayantakumar Singh, Mayor, Imphal Municipal Corporation, L Lokeshwor Singh, Additional Director, Health, Dr S Manikanta and Director, Health and Family Welfare Services, Dr K Rajo Singh attended the launch ceremony as the chief guest, guests of honour and president respectively.
Speaking at the event, L Jayantakumar Singh said that the programme is being held Nationwide with the purpose of eradicating polio once and for all.
The Minister said that mothers play a vital role in ensuring that their children get the pulse polio immunisation and appealed to all the mothers of the State to take the benefits of pulse polio immunization at the nearest PHC, CHC and sub-centres.
On the other hand, Director of Health Dr K Rajo explained that the launch programme of the pulse polio immunisation will cover 2,50,282 beneficiaries across 3,585 booths.
These booths will have a total of 717 supervisors, 14,340 vaccinators, 4009 ASHAs and 11,000 Anganwadi workers, he added.
He further appealed to all village chiefs, school teachers, social welfare staff, Church leaders, NGOs and parents residing in far flung areas to bring all children below the age of five for the intensified pulse polio immunisation so as to make the programme a success.
