Titular King of Manipur Leisemba Sanajaoba today graced the Ludoh Phanit seed sowing festival of Marem village, Ukhrul at Marem village ground.

Asserting that Meiteis and Tangkhuls are brothers, he said that without the Tangkhuls, the Laihaoraba festival of the Meities has no meaning.
"We have come here to renew the fraternal ties," he added.
The ancestors dispersed from Makhel in Senapati and spread to different areas of Manipur and settled at different locations in the hills and valley, said the titular King.
DESAM president M Angamba spoke on the need of harmony and close ties between the hills and valley as both come from a common ancestor.
"We must unite and work hard to develop the hills and valley equally," he said and added that the misunderstanding of the past should be forgotten.
The programme began with "Hokharai" which in Tangkhul means tradition of howling for bountiful blessing for years.
The symbolic ritual of seed sowing of different crops used by the villagers was performed by the Marem village headman Wungpam and his better half sowed the seed to mark the start of cultivation work of the villagers.
Extending a warm welcome to the titular King of Manipur and others, Wungpam hailed them for visiting and gracing the village festival.
As a mark of renewing the age old relationship between the two communities, traditional shawls were exchanged between the Marem village headman and titular King Leisemba Sanajaoba.
Headman in-charge of Hunphun/Ukhrul HA Haoreingam attended the festival as the guest of honor while president of ANSAM Seth Shatsang and DESAM president M Angamba were special guests of the festival.
