FCI emerge champions of 5th Yumnam Rashmani Memorial Hockey Tournament

Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the foremost duty of a human being is to render human service and work towards good for the society.
This was stated by him at the closing ceremony of the 5th Yumnam Rashmani Memorial Men's Open 7/A side Hockey Tournament 2017-18 held at Ibuthou Marjing Ground, Kontha Ahallup Imphal today.
The tournament was organised by YCCIC Kontha Ahallup under the aegis of Manipur Hockey.
Speaking as chief guest, Chief Minister said that the government would play a key role in protecting and saving the paddy fields and playgrounds in the State.
He said that late Yumnam Rashmani's contribution towards promoting sports in the region would always be remembered by the people.

While delivering presidential address, Minister for CAF&PD Karam Shyam said that those people who think and work good for the society would always be respected and remembered by the people.
Minister Karam Shyam said, "It is indeed good to know that Heingang is the birthplace of many Olympian and great players of the country and we are proud of it" .
Mentioning about the prevailing drug menace in the State, he said, the government alone cannot fight such problem.
A collective effort is needed to root out such problem, he added.
The final match was played between Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Hockey Union, Lairikyengbam Leikai.
Food Corporation of India(FCI) beat the Hockey Union, Lairikyengbam Leikai 4-1.The champions FCI were felicitated with cash prize of Rs 50,000 with trophy while the runners-up Hockey Union were awarded Rs 30,000 with trophy.
Various prizes such as best discipline player, player of the match etc, were also distributed during the valedictory function.
Minister for Agriculture V Hangkhanlian, Adhakshya Imphal East P Bimola Devi, Zilla Parishad member L Olendro, Director Tourism W Ibohal, Addl Director AYUSH Dr Y Lukhoi, Joint Director MAHUD Ng Uttam, Executive Engineer, PHED K Rameshwar Singh and other dignitaries witnessed the final match.
