PM may inaugurate Civil Sectt on March 15

Prime Minister Narendra Modi may inaugurate the new Civil Secretariat building being constructed at Lei Ingkhol on March 15.Even though the schedule of the Prime Minister's visit to Imphal on March 15 is only tentative, the State Government has been making hectic efforts to get the Civil Secretariat as well as the Rani Gaidinliu Park constructed near the Civil Secretariat premises inaugurated by Prime Minister as and when Narendra Modi visits Imphal.
Chief Minister N Biren today held a meeting and discussed about expediting the Civil Secretariat construction work as far as possible.
Apart from high ranking officials of the State Government, the meeting was attended by representatives of Simplex Projects Limited which has been constructing the Civil Secretariat.
Works Minister Th Biswajit, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Principal Secretary (Finance), Principal Secretary (Planning), Secretary to CM.
Commissioner (Works), FWD Additional Chief Engineer, PHED Chief Engineer, MSPDCL Managing Director, Director of Simplex Projects Limited and two General Managers attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed about expediting the Civil Secretariat construction work by engaging more labourers and extending the working hours till late evening so that the new Civil Secretariat can be inaugurated on March 15 in case Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes to Imphal on the day.
As discussed at the meeting, MSPDCL would provide necessary power while PHED would supply water, informed a source.
In connection with the proposed Prime Minister's visit to Imphal, another official meeting was held on January 25 at the level of the Chief Secretary.
The meeting discussed about completing the construction of Rani Gaidinliu Park so that the Prime Minister can inaugurate it together with the Civil Secretariat.
As agreed at the meeting, Water Resources Department was entrusted the task of de-clogging and beautifying drains located within the Rani Gaidinliu Park.
Even though the statue of Rani Gaidinliu which should be installed at the park has been completed, Arts and Culture Department was asked to make certain improvements so that it resembles Rani Gaidinliu more, informed the source.
