Bishnupur district conferred PM's award

Bishnupur, April 21 2022: Bishnupur district was on Thursday conferred with the prestigious Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2021 for Best Performance in the implementation of 'Promoting excellence in sports and wellness through Khelo India scheme' .

The award was present ed to Bishnupur deputy commissioner Lourembam Bikram by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the occasion of 15th Civil Services Day observance held at Vi-gyan Bhawan, Nevv Delhi.

It was organised by department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances.

The Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration was instituted with an aim to recognise the extraordinary and innovative work done by districts or implementing units and central/state organisations for the welfare of common citizens.

Bikram expressed that the achievement has been made possible by the commitment and dedication of all stakeholders of the district specially the athletes, sports association, officials of various departments and district administration.

He added that the award should be a stepping stone for all to work harder to bring more laurels for the district and the state as a whole.

DIT district manager, Prasanta Oinam, who is also the nodal officer of Prime Minister's Awards under Khelo India Scheme, Bishnupur accompanied the deputy commissioner at the awards function.

He was tasked with the responsibility to collect data of more than 2000 athletes for Bishnupur district.

Khelo India Scheme is a national programme for development of sports which aims to infuse sports culture and achieve sporting excellence in the country.

The scheme is to encourage sports across the country allowing the population to harness the power of sports through its cross-cutting influence, including, holistic develop ment of children and youth, community development, social integration, gender equality, healthy lifestyle, national pride and economic opportunities related to sports development.
