Chandel, April 17 2015 :
All Tribal Chiefs & People's Grievance Forum, Chandel district on Friday said said distribution of old age pension system in the district taken up by the social welfare department is not only "disorganised" but also wearying the aged old beneficiaries.
The forum president Sng Lumdil Anal while talking to media here in Chandel said, "all the beneficiaries have opened their bank accounts for e-transfer as directed by the department but finally the authorities have sidelined the account and gave out the pension manually by calling all the beneficiaries from across the district without any routine thereby making the aged old people confused and chaos" .
"Sick and aged old people from far off distance, in addition to the problems of travelling through the rough and tough road of the hills for coming to collect their pension from the district head quarter by hiring vehicles, had to wait in long queues apprehensive of whether they will get their turn to receive the money or not due to the fact that no schedule is given by the distributing authority" said the president and added that this practice, according to the president, has caused not only hardships, problem and difficulties to the beneficiaries but current system of distribution might facilitate the authorities for corruption.
The forum president Sng Lumdil Anal, demanding a well placed system of distribution in the form of e-transfer of the money into the respective accounts of the beneficiaries, has questioned the reason behind the distribution of pension manually instead.
