Imphal, April 17 2015 :
Manipur People's Party (MPP) strongly reacted to the 'untimely' speech given by the Chief Minister O Ibobi yesterday in the birth anniversary celebration of Dr BR Ambedkar.
A press meet was held in this regard on Friday at MPP Office, Imphal.
Party president N Sovakiran said that Dr BR Ambedkar was a very respectable figure in the Indian history and known for his righteousness and for his big contribution to the drafting of the Indian Constitution.
He added that it is very unfortunate for the CM Ibobi to deliver untimely and unreasonable speech on an auspicious occasion such as the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar and termed the speech as a mere 'vote bank policy'.
Specifically mentioning the loopholes of yesterday's speech, N Sovakiran said that CBI will naturally have to decline handling the case of finding human skulls in the Tombisana High School complex as the state government had already destroyed all the possible clues and evidences deliberately.
Knowing this underlying thing, MPP had earlier announced that dragging CBI into this matter would be useless.
Reacting to the pacification-toned appeal of the CM to the VDF personnel, Sovakiran said that the present issue of VDF is happening due to the extreme irresponsibility and sheer greed of votes by the Congress government.
While the Centre allowed appointment of only 1000 VDF personnel, the state government had recruited 10500 VDF personnel (way beyond the allowed number) before the 2012 General Elections so that Congress could secure good amount of postal ballots in that election.
He termed this policy of the state Congress government as even worse than the 'Opium war in China' .
CM Ibobi also assured of compulsory action to the guilty employees on the issue of Minor Irrigation Dept (MI).
However, Sovakiran stated that such assurance is just a repetition and should not be taken seriously as Ibobi has given umpteenth assurances in the past too, without translating into any actual action.
The MPP president added that among all the courts, people's court is the supreme.
So, public will decide what is wrong and what is right and will give a befitting reply to the irresponsible nature of the Congress government in the coming general election.
Sovakiran said that MPP strongly condemned the way in which CM eye-washed the public and the disrespect he showed to a respectable figure like Dr BR Ambedkar by delivering such untimely speeches on the occasion.
Suggesting on how to ensure a transparent election in the coming ADC elections, Sovakiran added that the state government should first try to remove the designated camps of insurgent outfits in hill areas just like it is doing to the camps of outfits under SoU.
He added that only after removing the camps and the interference from the outfits is stopped, ADC elections will become transparent.
