State Cabinet reschedules ADC elections on June 1

Imphal, April 17 2015 :
Manipur Cabinet on Friday decided to postpone the scheduled ADC polls to June 1 in view of a religious function of Seventh Day Christian group of the State to be held on May 30 .
Elections to the six Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) were earlier scheduled to be held on May 30 .
A religious event of the Seventh Day Adventist sect clashes the earlier May 30 schedule of the district council vote, therefore it has been deferred to June 1, Government spokesperson M Okendro informed.
The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh at the CM's Secretariat conference room here, he said.
As per the new schedule, polling will take place from 7 am to 4:30 pm on June 1.If necessity of re-polls comes up, June 6 has been fixed for the same.
The elections will be conducted by the State Election Commission.
Counting of vote will be done on June 10 and all election related activities will be finished on June 17.The results will be declared on June 10 .
The State Cabinet had on March 27 gave its approval to hold the ADC polls on May 30 after the present tenure of the six councils had already ended.
Notably, the Draft Electoral Roll for the polls was released on March 30 last.
April 13 has been given as the final date for correction of the Draft Electoral Roll.
The final electoral roll will be released on April 20 .
The formal Public Notification of the ADC Elections will be out on April 30 .
