UCM, PPCM to check hoarding of salt

Imphal, November 15 2013 :
United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) would conduct drives in the markets to check hoarding and price hike of common salt in the State following rumours of shortage of common salt in other states like Bihar, Odisha and Gujarat.
Talking to media persons separately at their respective offices today, Vice-President of UCM Chandramani Khuman and Advisor of PPCM Elangbam Chanu Tampha said that the rumour of shortage of common salt has caused panic among the public.
The issue has been politicized while some traders try to extract more profit from such rumour.
The organizations would conduct drives to check hoarding and selling of common salt more than the maximum retail price (MRP) .
The representatives of UCM and PPCM also appealed to the authorities concerned to take up efficient measures to control prices of essential commodities and prevent such unwanted crisis in the future.
