Bishnupur hosts District Level Youth Fest

Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Bishnupur in association with Kwasiphai Youth Volunteer Organisation (KYVO) organised a District Level Youth Festival - YUVA SAMVAD 2022 under the theme "Fundamental Duty is more important than Fundamental Rights for Bringing Development" at Kwasiphai in Bishnupur district on Thursday.
Youth Affairs & Sports minister Govindas Konthoujam attended the function as the chief guest while Bishnupur deputy commissioner Lourembam Bikram, Nachou Gram Panchayat Zilla Member Thiyam Dilip Singh and KYVO president Maisnam Dhaneshwor Singh were guests of honour and president respectively.
Addressing the gathering, minister Govindas stated that neglecting our fundamental duties is akin to infringement of others' fundamental rights and pointed out that there is nothing the youth cannot do to bring about development as the future belongs to the youth.
Stating that the unique fabric of the country is its unity in diversity, he informed that the state government proposed Tamil Nadu as a pairing state for future youth cultural programmes.
Representatives from each district of the state will be included in such programmes to foster an inclusive growth and development as envisioned by the chief minister, he added.
On the other-hand, DC Bikram stated that India has the largest youth population in the world which either implies that the country has large productive population or that the future will be compromised, if not channelised in the right direction.
The DC then encouraged youth to identify their talents and nurture them with utmost discipline and dedication and advised them to contribute to the nation-building process and abstain from substance abuse and anti-social activities as it have dire consequences.
Competitions on painting, mobile photography, declamation, folk dance and district youth convention were the main highlights of the day-long festival.
Several distinguished personalities from various fields were also felicitated as 'Youth Icons' on the occasion.
