Three UG extortionists arrested

Imphal, August 28 2014:
A team of District Police Commando, Imphal West arrested one active member of KYKL identified as Laishram Gandhi Meitei (28) S/o (L) L.Rajentombi Meitei of Wangoo Mamang Sabal Nongyai Khongbal but presently staying at Kakching Turel Wangma Ningthou Pareng from Jiri Parking Wahengbam Leikai today.
According to a statement issued by S.Gautam Singh, MPS, SP/NAB, Manipur �cum- PRO, Police Department, Manipur, investigation revealed that the arrested KYKL cadre was involved in making monetary demands to the vehicle counters located at Jiri Parking, Wahengbam Leikai Imphal.
One mobile handset with two SIM cards was recovered from his possession, the PRO disclosed, adding that a case has been registered at Imphal PS and investigation is going on.
In another operation, a combined team of District Police Commando, Imphal East including women Police and 40 Assam Rifles arrested an active cadre of United Revolutionary Front (URF), namely, Nongthombam Memthoi Devi @ Thoi (31) D/o N.Priyokumar of Phunal Maring village by presently staying at Wangkhei Koijam Leikai from Wangkhei, near St.
George High School on August 26, the PRO further informed, adding that one one mobile handset along with two SIM cards were recovered from her possession.
On her disclosure, her father, namely, Nongthombam Priyokumar Singh (59) S/o (L) N.Noida Singh of Phunal Maring village by staying Wangkhei Koijam Leikai was also arrested on the same day from a community hall located on the Eastern side of Irampham Thongkhong along with one mobile handset and 2 (two) SIM cards.
Investigation revealed arrested father-daughter duo had extorted a sum of Rs.50,000 from an institute located at Akampat in July, 2014 for URF party fund.
On further disclosure of accused, Nongthombam Memthoi Devi, another woman cadre of URF outfit identified as Thounaojam (O) Chandrajini Devi (26) W/o (L) Th.Romen Singh of Waiton but staying at PWD quarter, DM college campus was also arrested from her residence on the same day and recovered one mobile handset along with 2 (two) SIM cards from her possession.
A case has been registered at Porompat PS and investigation is going on, the PRO added.
