Imphal, August 28 2014:
Forwarding a new resolution to participate in every issue concerning the State, the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) held its 49th foundation day celebration today at AMSU office, DM College complex.
The programme began with the hoisting of AMSU's flag in the office complex followed by offering of floral tributes to honour the souls of students killed in the 1965 Hunger March episode.
AMSU volunteers also donated blood as a part of the event.
The event was graced by H Dilip Singh, Director, Education (S), Government of Manipur as chief guest, AMSU president Thiyam Naresh as president and Dr Hamom Nabachandra Singh, Chairman of the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur; Assistant professor of Political Science, Imphal College and former president of AMSU K T Itocha as guests of honour respectively.
Giving an insight of the programme's agenda, AMSU general secretary Laishram Reagan said that the union have been actively participating in all the issues concerning the State ever since its formation on August 28, 1965 (right after the 1965 hunger march event) and will continue to do so in the future.
Right to life and Right to education are very often deprived of the students of Manipur, Reagan stated.
In such a condition where students have to fight everyday for their basic rights, the right to education is often side-lined, the general secretary added.

Speaking as Chief Guest of the event H Dilip affirms that Education S is undergoing a considerable change in the working of its administration.
He assured that these change would be made visible to the public shortly.
The director further suggested AMSU to document its history and infomations to render it easier for students or researchers who are eager to learn about the Union.

AMSU volunteers, he added, should be disciplined and posses good conduct.
