Silver medalist Chaoba given rousing welcome

Imphal, August 28 2014:
Ningthoujam Chaoba Devi who won a silver medal in the Wushu event in the recently concluded 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games 2014, held at Nanjing, China was felicitated today on her arrival at Imphal International Airport by their family members and well-wishers.
Three players and 1 coach namely N.Somokanta, N.Memecha Devi and team coach N.Pradip from Manipur represented India in the championship.
The lone medal of India was fetched by Chaoba in Sanshou event of 52 kg.
Somokanta and Memecha who competed in Sanshou event of 65 kg category and Taichi event failed to show their best during the competition.
Members of Bishnupur Wushu Association, Wushu Players' Guardian Welfare Association Thanga and Wushu Players of Manipur welcomed Chaoba and other players by putting garlands around their necks.
Born to Ningthoujam Sanayaima and Ningthoujam ongbi Mangolnganbi Devi of Thanga Oinam Leikai, Chaoba started playing Wushu from November 2009 under the supervision of N.Ronel Singh, who is also an Asian Silver Medalist.
