AR conducts mass band display

The 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) conducted a mass band display at Pallel.
AR pipe bands played in unison to an audience of about 500 persons.
Pipe and drums are integral to Assam Rifles.
Its origin could be traced back to legendary Scottish bands which were an essential component of the ancient armies.
The remote areas of Chandel District have limited entertainment avenues and the Mass Band Display provided an exhilarating experience to the residents of this small township, who came in horde to watch the event.
Speaking at the occasion, Brig Rajiv Chhibber, Commander 26 Sector AR, remarked that these interactions were vital to create a close bonding between the Security Forces and the local populace.
He further stated that these events personify in spirit the very motto of Assam Rifles, "Friends of the North East" and assured that many more of such activities shall be planned in future.
The locals who witnessed the event expresses its gratitude to the Assam Rifles for the friendly gesture and pledged all their support of the Security Forces.
