Taking serious note of the sharp spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the State, the Cabinet which met today evening has reiterated its earlier decision to screen all incoming people at Mao Gate and Jiribam railway station.
Anyone with symptoms will be shifted to the hospital immediately while the others will have to be quarantined, said a notification issued by the Chief Secretary late today evening.
Other than the six trains which have arrived so far, two more trains are arriving tomorrow from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Hyderabad.
Another two trains which started today from Pune and Chennai will arrive at Jiribam on May 23 .
Tomorrow about 6010 people are expected to return by train, said the Chief Secretary and added that 5844 people have reached by bus.
The State Government has also arranged two trains from Delhi which are likely to start on May 23 and May 25.Two trains from Goa, (which will pick some passengers from Madhya Pradesh) and Mumbai will start on May 21 and another train will start from Bengaluru on May 22 and another from Hyderabad on May 23 .
Trains are also likely to start from Gujarat and Rajasthan on May 24 and the final schedule is awaited, said the notification.
The incoming people will be segregated from the present inmates at the quarantine centres.
