Proposed indefinite eco blockade called off

The proposed "indefinite economic blockade" along National Highway-2 in Senapati district which was supposed to begin from 6 pm of May 20, Wednesday, has been "called off" following a talk between the civil society organizations and 'tribe hohos' of the district and the representatives of the State Government.
The 24-hour ultimatum served to the Manipur Government to suspend "former" Senapati district Deputy Commissioner Somorjit Salam expired at 6 pm on Wednesday, May 20 .
PHE Minister L Dikho, Advisor to the Chief Minister K Leishiyo, Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze represented the Manipur Government in the talk with the civil society organizations and 'tribe hohos' of Senapati district, according to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today.
The meeting minutely deliberated on the alleged "conduct and violation of COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and quarantine protocols by 'former' Deputy Commissioner of Senapati district Somorjit Salam", said the MoU.
The Memorandum of Understanding then said that based on the "positive and detailed discussion", the participants of the meeting agreed that "an inquiry committee" to investigate the alleged incident will be set up by the Government of Manipur.
