Train with 496 from Vijayawada reach Jiri

Shramik Special train from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh ferrying 496 stranded State natives reached Jiribam Railway Station at 8.17 am today.
This was the sixth train to enter the State since the State Government launched the repatriation process.
The first train from Chennai had arrived with 1,140 people on May 13.The 496 people who arrived today include six from Ukhrul district, 28 from Churachandpur and Pherzawl, 17 from Tamenglong, 23 from Senapati and Kangpokpi, 25 from Chandel, 14 from Tengnoupal, 53 from Kakching, 59 from Bishnupur, 55 from Thoubal, 126 from Imphal East and Kamjong, 87 from Imphal West and 3 from Noney district.
Passengers from Ukhrul were screened for COVID-19 first followed by others from the remaining districts.
After thorough screening, the returnees were dispatched to their respective districts for 14 days quarantine.
Meanwhile, to accommodate the increasing number of returnees, health authority has identified five more centres in Imphal East district as community quarantine centres.
The centres are Fernando Girls' Hostel, Paomei Colony, Ravalico Boys' Hostel, Paomei Colony, Raja Dumbra High School, Rajbari, Nongmeibung Primary School, Namamchuthek and Thamchet Primary School, Nongmeibung Pung Makhong.
The centres have a capacity of 50 beds each except Nongmeibung Primary School, said a memorandum issued by Chief Medical Officer, Imphal East, Dr L Indira Devi.
