Imphal, May 20 2020:
Conveying its indignation over the alleged protracted delay of releasing various schemes under the department of the Tribal Affairs and Hills (TA &H), All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) urged the State Government to take immediate steps for the release of the pending schemes for the year 2018-19 and 2019-20 at the earliest.
A press release issued by ATSUM said that the said schemes meant for the alleviation of poverty in the hill districts had been kept in the limbo for the past two years on the 'preposterous pretext of political instability and bureaucratic quagmires whereas the so-called beneficiaries are kept high and dry' .
These schemes in question are sponsored by the Central Government and had already been released, ATSUM alleged that schemes which were meant to be disbursed by last year are kept in abeyance till date.
Lamenting that disbursement of the scheme should be done through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to ensure transparency, ATSUM claimed that reverting to the archaic distribution system will defeat the very purpose of the scheme.
