Block Health Mela held across state

As a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration and the state government's '100 Days Action Plan', Block Health Melas were held in Bishnupur, Thoubal and Noney districts on Monday.
In Bishnupur district, the fair organised by District Health Society was inaugurated by minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh at Community Health Centre (CHC), Nambol for Nambol block.
Expressing satisfaction at the well-maintained condition of the CHC, the minister said that efforts will be made to further equip the health centre with various pertinent facilities like trauma centre in view of the growing incidence of road mishaps in consultation with CMO and medical experts.
Basanta also inspected 30 stalls set up by various line departments in the district such as Information Education Communication (IEC) and Awareness Generating Stalls as well as Clinical Stalls which will avail screening, testing, treatment and counselling facilities at the mela.
Bishnupur deputy commissioner Lou-rembam Bikram said that the main objective for organising the Block Health Mela is to create awareness among the public regarding various health schemes provided by government like Chief Minister's Health for All Scheme (CMHA) and Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) among others.
The Health Melas will serve as a platform to avail quality healthcare services alongwith essential medicines and diagnostics services, the DC added.
Nambol SDO Khumukcham Renuka, Bishnupur CMO Dr L Raichandra Singh, DLOs, officials and staff of medical department of the district attended the function.
The Health Mela had clinical stalls such as cataract screening, hearing impairment, gynae OPD with USG, dermatology, AYUSH OPD, Laboratory Diagnostic among others.
IEC and Awareness Generating Stalls of Poshan Abhiyan (ICDS & WCD); District AIDS Control Programme; District Leprosy Eradication Programme; National TB Elimination Programme; Eat Right Movement India (Food Safety); AYUSH; School Health Programme (Education); and Family Planning Services among others were also set up during the mela.
Bishnupur district having three blocks will further organise the Block Health Melas at Bishnupur District Hospital for Bishnupur Block on April 20 and CHC Moirang for Moirang Block on April 22.Thoubal district administration along with District Health Society also organised Block Health Mela for Wangjing Tentha Block at Ibudhou Yotningthou Laikol Community Hall, Heirok on Monday.
Chief guest of the function, MLA Th Radheshyam lauded the medical fraternity and other departments concerned for their dedicated service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He urged the people of the area and the district to adopt a healthy lifestyle and avoid intoxicating food items.
Thoubal deputy commissioner A Subhash said the Block Health Mela is being organised in different parts of the country and in the state as well.
The district administration will be organising two block health fairs in the coming days.
He also appealed to the public to apply for Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) Card to avail the benefits of the health insurance scheme initiated by state government.
As part of the programme, 30 stalls were opened which included testing facilities and medicine distribution.
CMHT and Ayushman card were also distributed and menstruation kits were distributed to female school students.
The programme was attended by Thoubal CMO Dr Y Nokul Singh, medical superintendent Dr Th Memcha Devi as guest of honour, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers among others.
As part of the Mela, Thoubal District food safety officer used mobile Food Testing Vans along with stall to generate awareness on "Eat Right Movement" in India.
Demonstrations were conducted by officials and staff of the department on food safety testing and the people briefed on eat right campaign besides promoting the concept and certification of Hospitals, school and industries.
The key services during the health mela included, reproductive child health related to maternal and child health, family planning, IEC- Family welfare, Reproductive Transmitted illnesses, sexually transmitted, illnesses, AIDS screening and treatment; NCD related on Yoga, meditation and lifestyle counselling, tobacco and alcohol cessation, cancer prevention awareness; Communicable diseases related on personal/environmental hygiene, leprosy control, TB control, malaria, skin care; Eye care on refractive error, Cataract screening among others.
Similar block Health mela will be conducted for Lilong Block on April 20 and Thoubal Block on April 22 at PHC Lilong Campus and Ibudhou Tangjeng Ningthou Laikol Community Hall, Thoubal Kiyam respectively.
On the other hand, Noney district administration inaugurated the Block Health Mela on Monday at Multipurpose Hall of Longmai Part III in collaboration with District Health Society.
Longmai Area Council chairman Adai Dangmei, Longmai Village Authority chairman Kasaigai Gangmei and Noney chief medical officer Dr Edwin Golmei attended the function as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
In his keynote address, Dr Edwin stressed on the importance of health as a key ingredient in our daily fives.
DPO (AIDS) Dr Louisa Golmei, DPO (NLEP) Dr Azin Maringmei, DPM Bijeta RK and health officials of Noney district were present at the function amongst others.
