Court extends police remand of accused

In connection with the murder case of Ak Nonganba alias Aging, the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Kangpokpi on Friday extended the police custody remand of NSCN-IM deputy Kilonser Moses and Th Sonia, who had accompanied the deceased on that fateful day.
On Friday, Sonia was produced before the court by police with a prayer to extend the police remand for 5 more days for further interrogation.
The police also produced Moses before the same court and made a prayer for extending the police remand to 4 days.
The court accepted the prayers and extended the police remand of both accused.
Meanwhile, on hearing news that the two accused would be produced in the Court, the JAC formed in connection with death, Tuilong Kun Area Women Union, AMKIL, 'Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi, Paona Keithel Women Organisation, Khairam-band Nupi Keithel Semgat Sagatpa Lup stormed the Court Complex.
After the two accused Were produced, the large crowed rushed in and shouted slogans like "We condemn Nonganba's death, "Produce the persons responsible for the death", "Punish Moses and Sonia strictly, arrest Stephen of NSCN-IM", etc.
Speaking on the sidelines, Tuilong Kun Area Women Union member Mary Vai-phei strongly condemned the killing, while remarking that this is not the first someone was killed elsewhere and then dumped in Kuki inhabited area.
Stating that it is an attempt to pour dirt on the community, she urged for taking up strict action against those responsible.
There is no customary law which supports dumping of dead bodies as it would require a cleansing of the entire village.
Thus, she demanded the person(s) who dumped the body to clarify themselves before March 15, failing which the Imphal-Dimapur route will be shut down.
After protesting, the large crowd of protestors stormed the court complex, which was followed by a rally taken out along the Imphal-Dimapur route.
