Kangpokpi, February 24 2023:
Despite the Government's efforts to streamline the Government schools in the State by introducing the "School Fagathansi Mission" Tujang Vaichong Government High School has been reeling under acute shortage of teaching and non-staff.
Tujang Vaichong Government High School is among the best performing Government schools in the district having over 600 students.
The school, however, is run by only seven teaching and non-teaching staff.
The Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills team led by its general secretary Thangtinlen Haokip accompanied by members of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi visited the school today and found out the extreme shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff.
Speaking to the media, KSO Sadar Hills education secretary Abraham Haokip conveyed that the student body is disappointed over the acute shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff at T Vaichong Government High School.
He said that T Vaichong Government High School included under the "School Fagathansi Mission" has only seven teaching and non-teaching staff currently after the retirement of three staff and transfer of five others with no replacement so far .
He said that the school is facing huge administrative problems.
Haokip asserted that as per the Right to Education Act of 2009, especially regarding the pupil-teacher ratio, there should be one teacher for thirty students at the primary level and one teacher for every thirty-five students at the upper primary level.
He appealed to the authority concerned to send the replacement for the retired and transferred staff at the earliest.
