Imphal, February 24 2023:
The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) reportedly conducted religious rituals and condolence service for its departed president Irengbam Chaoren at IC headquarters, GHQ, units and battalions.
According to an RPF statement, the rituals and condolence service were conducted at different places in Manipur and outside as per the practice of Meetei and other religions like Buddhist, Christian, Gaura, Islam and Taoism.
The outfit also expressed its deepest appreciation to all the revolutionary groups of WESEA and others waging war against India for sending condolence messages on the demise of the RPF president.
Apart from sending condolence messages, many revolutionary groups described Chaoren as a highly valued leader of the people, the RPF said.
While maintaining that RPF will continue with its struggle despite the untimely loss of the leader, the statement said that politicians of Manipur are not credible as also policies of the puppet government.
It said that India's 'Peace Talks' policy is only an administrative strategy to fasten and keep revolutionaries stagnant and there is no valid reason for revolutionaries sacrificing for truth to surrender.
While reminding the people about Chaoren's belief, the RPF statement said that forging unity is immediate requirement for Manipur/Kangleipak and there is nothing to gain for the state from fratricides.
It also declared that there will be no message to the people delivered usually on RPF's Raising Day on February 25 this year in honour of Irengbam Chaoren's demise.
Meanwhile, revolutionary groups operating outside WESEA and friends also expressed deep condolences on the demise of Irengbam Chaoren and termed his demise as a great loss for the region and independence struggle.
The groups also said that Chaoren's contributions in revolutionary struggle will be remembered forever and shared pain and sorrow of all the family members and the organisation.
United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) also expressed its deepest condolences on the demise of RPF president Chaoren and shared pain and sorrow of Chaoren's family, RPF leaders and PLA cadres.
