No settlement in K Sonjang till 2021: CM Biren

While maintaining that whatever activity that the government is taking up is for the welfare of the people and to save the indigenes, chief minister N Biren has called for peaceful coexistence among all the communities settling in the state and urged all concerned not to circulate false propaganda in the media labelling the government as communal.
Addressing the members in Friday's session of the assembly, the CM expressed strong resentment that statements being fed to the media in connection with the recent eviction drive at K Sonjang village to portray the government as communal and Working against a particular community.
Biren asserted that some people claiming settlement of villagers of K Sonjang for a long time cannot be accepted as the place was uninhabited till 2021 and it was only in 2022 that around 17/18 houses were seen constructed.
Upon verification of the Aadhaar cards of those people settling in Sonjang, it came to light that their addresses were written as Kangvai in Churachandpur district.
After further investigation into the matter, the village authority of Kangvai also submitted a written statement clarifying that the said individuals are not from Kangvai either, the chief minister revealed.
Maintaining that all needs to be sincere and work together as one, regardless of politicians or CSOs, the chief minister appealed to all concerned not to entertain settlement of illegal migrants in the state.
Meanwhile, Biren informed the house that satellite images have shown setting up of new villages in the jungles ofSajikTampak and urged all concerned not to indulge in such activities.
