Court grants absolute bail to Samarjit

The court of special judge (NIA), Manipur has granted absolute bail to Salai Group of Companies founder director Narengbam Samarjit.
The court on February 18 conducted hearing on a plea filed by Samarjit praying for converting the interim bail granted on March 17, 2022 to absolute bail.
During the hearing, the defence counsel submitted that the accused is undergoing treatment for Bipolar Affective Disorder (BPAD) for which his doctor often refers him to N1MHANS Hospital, Bangalore for further treatment.
Besides, the accused has been following the directives of f he court so far, explained the counsel.
On the other hand, special public prosecutor (NIA) submitted that the accused consulted a psychiatry doctor at the time of applying for interim bail but there was no supporting documents for his treatment or any major diagnostic tests and appealed to reject the bail application.
After hearing both sides, the court observed that the accused has submitted documentary evidence of counselling session with a psychologist, prescription of psychological medicine, minor surgery and getting Faecal Occult Blood Test.
While observing that the accused will require further treatment, the court converted the interim bail granted on March 17, 2022 into absolute bail.
The court also directed that the accused or his pleader shall be present in the court in all the future hearing of the case, and to pay a fresh bond on the next hearing of the special trial case.
