Minor murder case: Three remanded to judicial custody

Special Judge POCSO, Thoubal, remanded the three accused who were arrested in connection with the death of a 16 year girl, to judicial custody till April 16 .
A large number of angry locals and family members of the deceased minor girl began gathering at Thoubal Court complex after getting information that the accused individuals would be produced before the Court yesterday.
Taking the situation into consideration, heavy security arrangements were made to prevent any kind of unwanted incident.
The 3 accused identified as Leishangthem Ashakumar alias Kumar Singh (22) s/o L Ningthem of Yairipok Lairongthel, Khumanthem Rabi (24) s/o (L) Munal of Lairongthel Sabal Leikai and Khomdram Joychandra (30) s/o Iboton of Lairongthel Awang Leikai, were produced before the Court under very tight security.
A prayer for remanding them further in judicial custody was also submitted as well.
The IO of the case submitted that on March 24 at around 4.30 pm, the mother of the deceased girl lodged a complaint to OC Women PS, stating that the previous day on March 23, at around 6.30 pm, her daughter was called out of her home by the accused Leishangthem Arunkumar.
However no further information about her daughter was received and accordingly a missing person case was registered by Women PS Thoubal.
The IO continued that during the course of the investigation, the prime ac-cused/boyfriend of the victim, Leishangthem Arunkumar, was arrested from Yairipok Leirongthel on March 25, at around 12.30 pm and in the meantime, locals informed the police about the presence of a dead body of a girl (who later turned out to be the missing victim) at Leirongthel Ngamuleirou Thokpi Khong.
The body of the victim was deposited at JNIMS morgue after necessary inquest by a team of State Forensic Science team and the post mortem was conducted in the presence of the Duty Magistrate with full video coverage.
The IO submitted that two more accused of the case, Khumanthem Rabi and Khomdram Joychandra, were also arrested by Women police Thoubal.
During investigation, the prime accused Leishangthem Arunkumar admitted to the charges levelled against him and as such the IO prayed for remanding the accused individuals to further judicial custody.
The Court then remanded the three accused in judicial custody till April 16.It may be mentioned that on March 31, SP Thoubal, during a press conference held at the SP Conference Hall, had stated that the prime accused Leishangthem Arunkumar admitted that he had committed the crime and revealed that even though he is a married man and have a child, he pretended to be a young unmarried man.
It may be further mentioned that the irate locals of victim's locality ransacked the house of the prime accused Leishangthem Ashakumar, upon receiving the news of the discovery of the minor's body at Leirongthel Ngamuleirou Thokpi Khong near canal number 1, Thoubal Project.
