Ex-Servicemen pay last respect to Brig Sailo

Imphal, March 29 2015:
Ex-Servicemen of the Assam Regiment paid their last respect to Late Brigadier T Sailo, AVSM (Retd) on Saturday during the funeral service held in Aizawl.
Brigadier Tailo passed away in Aizawl on March 27 .
Ex Servicemen of the Assam Regiment turned up in huge Numbers to pay this last respect to Brig Sailo.
Born on 01 January 1922 at Thuampui village in Mizoram, he joined the Indian Army as commissioned officer in 1942.As part of 1st Battalion the Assam Regiment he took part in the Burma campaign and was twice awarded Mention in Dispatches in 1945 .

T Sailo has the distinction of having actively participated in Kashmir Operations in 1950 and against China in 1962.He raised and commanded 4th Battalion of the Assam Regiment from Oct 1960 to Sep 1963 and the Assam Regimental Centre from Sep 1963 to May 1966 .
He was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in recognition of his notable Samaritan works during great Bihar flood of 1972 .
Brigadier T Sailo was elected as Chief Minister of Mizoram twice and was conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award by the President of India in 1999 .
