'Palm Sunday' observed across State

Tamenglong/Kangpokpi, March 29 2015:
Christian believers across the State observed 'Palm Sunday', recalling the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
The day marks the week before Christ's death and resurrection and is also the beginning of the Holy Week which concludes on Easter Sunday.
In Tamenglong, different Churches organized procession carrying branches of leaves and shouting slogan like 'Hosanna', 'Glory to God in the highest', etc.

In Kangpokpi, Christians took out procession along National Highway 2 singing and shouting "Hosana, Hosana, Hosana" as part of the observation of Palm Sunday.
Coming out from their respective churches Young and old, men and women holding twigs in their hands shouted "Hosanna to the Son of David" and "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord" along the Highway depicting scenes and images when Jesus Christ made a triumphal entry to Jerusalem.
Kangpokpi (Kanggui) Christian Church, KBC Centre Church, Kangpokpi (Kanggui) also joined the exuberant procession along the highway mostly participated by Sunday School students.
Palm Sunday in the town was observed with prayers, hymns and sermons by Church leaders.
According to The Bible, Jesus entered Jerusalem and the crowds greeted him by waving palm branches and covering his path with palm branches.
The occasion has been commemorated by Christians around the world.
