CTLLSM welcomes Cabinet approval

Council of Tribal Languages & Literature Societies, Manipur (CTLLSM) has on Sunday appreciated the decision of the State Cabinet for approving the languages of Anal, Maram, Maring and Simte for introduction in the schools on March 27 .
CTLLSM greets the people of Anal, Maram, Maring and Simte and congratulate them for their children will be able to learn their mother tongue in schools, a release said.
The council also appealed to the Government to allocate fund in the State Budget for the languages concerned and the communities concerned should strive to bring out quality textbooks as per the guidelines of 'National Curriculum Framework' from time to time.
It further said that a recent news report that the terms and conditions to grant recognition to a tribal language, the community; the language should have not less than 10,000 population and should have published books, magazines and newspaper is strongly objectionable and constitutionally unattainable.
"It should be 'a community having a distinct language with a proper writing system of it'," the release said.
The Indian Constitution's Article 29 (1) states -"Any section of citizens residing in the territory of India or any part thereof having a distinct language, script or culture of its own shall have right to conserve the same," it said.
