Imphal, March 29 2015:
A one-day political awareness camp cum mass enrolment programme was held today at Snowland complex, Samurou Naorem under the aegis of BJP Wangoi Mandal.
BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba, Wangoi Mandal president L Ibomcha, BJP State unit vice-president S Satyabhama, general secretary M Ashnikumar, Mahila Morcha president RK Pramodini, Yuva Morcha president O Malesh, State executive members and former MLA Salam Joy were present at the gathering.
Speaking at the gathering, Th Chaoba remarked that Congress rule in the State since the past 13 years is synonymous with corruption and misappropriation of public money.
Even though Ministers, bureaucrats and contractors have built palatial houses, the Government is unable to provide water needed for domestic consumption and irrigation of paddy fields.
All major roads are in bad shape and power supply remains as erratic as usual.
It is now an open public discourse that the Government took bribes during appointment of police personnel.
Whereas all the odd and heavy duties are given to VDF personnel, they are being given peanuts as salary/honorarium, Chaoba lambasted the Congress Government.
In order to do away with all these wrongdoings and misgovernance, it is crucial to elect a BJP Government in the next Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
It needs public cooperation if the malaise of corruption which has taken deep roots under the Congress Government must be uprooted from the soil of Manipur, he added.
Commenting on the unfolding political scenario across the country, Chaoba said that Congress party is on the verge of extinction.
The mass enrolment drive of BJP was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November last year with the primary objective of making BJP the most powerful political party in the country.
BJP secured around 17.50 crore votes in the 16th Lok Sabha election whereas the number of party members was just around 2.50 crore.
But today the number of party members has crossed 8.40 crore.
Likewise, the number of BJP members in Manipur has shot over three lakh from just 12,000, Chaoba claimed.
BJP is all prepared to vanquish Congress party in the ADC election scheduled on May 30, he added.
Former MLA Salam Joy said that 10,500 electorate of Wangoi A/C have been enrolled in BJP till date.
The mass enrolment campaign would go on until the target of 14,000 is achieved.
There is not an iota of truth in the propaganda that certain individuals who are at present Trinamool Congress members would fight the next Assembly election on BJP tickets, Joy said.
