2 caught on theft charge; 6 houses dismantled

Imphal, October 22 2015:
Two persons who were allegedly responsible for stealing of 25 kg rice and Rs 6000 from a shop at Sangaiyumpham Part 1 Mairenkhul, under Thoubal Police Station of Thoubal district were caught and thrashed by the locals.
They also vandalized houses of six persons said to be the sellers of drugs that the two used.
Sources said that clubs/organizations/meira paibis of the area and Anjuman has been campaigning and trying to eradicate drug abuse and peddling at Sangaiyumfam Part 1 and its surroundings since a long time.
On Wednesday midnight, a shop of Md Fajurdin (28), Sangaiyumfam Mairenkhul was robbed of 25 kg rice and Rs 6000 .
After interrogation, Md Aribam Abo (45), son of late Bamin and Md Mayangmayum Azad (30), son of Md Alao revealed that were responsible for the theft.
The irate mobs also dismantled houses of Mrs Jinatun (45), wife of (L) Naji Ahamad, Mrs Nurjan (28), wife of Saburkhan, Aribam Serkhan (30), son of (L) Kayamuddin, Md Mufijuddin (30), son of (L) Mane, Md Meino (45), son of (L) Mane and Md Ibocha (40), son of (L) Rafi on Thursday morning.
They have been accused of engaging in drug peddling.
Out of the six persons, Aribam Serkhan has been admitted at District Hospital Thoubal and later referred to RIMS hospital after irate locals thrashed him badly.
The two alleged thieves were handed over to Thoubal Police Station.
