CCpur, October 22 2015:
The armed outfit UTLA has denied that its cadre identified as one Lalgin alias P Lenlal was killed in an encounter as claimed by the security agencies even as it claimed that the combat dress he reportedly wore and the unusable rifle said to be in his possession were all planted by the AR.
Lalgin, with UTLA Army no 1098 was picked up near Saikulphai village by the AR stationed at Kadamtala while he was on his way to Jiribam for marketing along with two of his friends.
He was on leave, and had identified himself to the AR.
Two of his friends were released but the AR after taking him to several places with no specific reasons and purposes, and after using him for more than two weeks, was tortured and shot to death, said a statement issued by Bom Singson, UTLA's I&PR secretary.
It shocked us when the AR claimed that he was killed in an encounter, said the outfit and claimed that no joint operation was launched by AR and police personnel of Jiribam at Kulbung as claimed, nor was any gunshot that purportedly killed Lalgin heard.
The outfit further warned other SoO groups to remain alert whenever they are in contact and earnestly informed them to give report to the nearest police station if it happens so.
