Two ex-champion teams thrashed by YPHU, FC Zalen

YPHU Lalambung Makhong thrashed five time state champion NISA Thangmeiband and FC Zalen Sadar Hills beat SSU Singjamei in interesting encounters on Thursday at the Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the first match of the day, both YPHU and NISA began the play with grit and determination.
However, the breakthrough for YPHU came when a superb free kick by M Karbiraj was converted into a goal by L Bharat in the 37th minute of the match.
The first goal scored by YPHU gave the team the much required hope and energy to defend the margin.
NISA's effort to equalize bore no fruit and the first half ended in 1-0 lead by YPHU.
In the second half, NISA made some inroads into the rival camp areas.
However, the determined YPHU boys kept the defence intact.
Just as when everyone was expecting that the match might end in 1-0 win by YPHU, its player O Ajay gave a shot straight into rival goalkeeper M Deban.
Deban saved the goal but the ball deflection landed into YPHU's M Robindro which made no mistake in netting the second goal for YPHU in the 80th minute.
The match ended in 2-0 in favour of YPHU.
With this win, YPHU now stands at 11 points while NISA is still at 14 .
In the second match, FC Zalen shocked another former champion SSU 1-0.The decider came in only at the 90+1 minute of the match when Seikhohao Tuboi converted a pass from Paolenlal Khongsai into a goal.
The late goal scored by the FC Zalen was good enough for the team as it was too late for SSU to equalize the margin.
However in the points tally, FC Zalen and SSU stand at
12 points each.
