Imphal, October 22 2015:
Zeliangrong Youth Front, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland or ZYF (AMN) has urged the authorities to immediately complete and commission the newly constructed State Bank India (SBI) branch office in Tamei Headquarters.
In a statement, ZYF General Secretary David Kamei lamented that the delaying in completion and commissioning of the SBI Branch in Tamei Headquarters has impeded developmental activities and other financial transaction related matters in Tamei areas in particular and the periphery villages in general.
David reminded that the Government of India has introduced new policies and various mandatory rules for opening of bank account for financial transaction so as to implement developmental schemes.
However, all the schemes meant nothing if people could not avail benefits and other entitlements due to absence of banking branch or system.
He said that in the rules and guidelines of MGNREGA, every job card holders have to open bank account to credit the wages amount through respective bank account.
But due to lack of bank facility, the people are facing problems.
The problems have impeded acceleration of developmental activities in all spheres in the district, David said.
