Imphal, October 22 2015:
The Joint Action Committee constituted against the death of Sinam Tomboi of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai has threatened to launch different forms of intense agitations if the authority concerned fails to arrest the culprits before October 26 .
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, JAC convenor Mutum Ingo said that Tomboi left his home in his Honda Activa at around 8.30 pm on October 20 after allegedly receiving a phone call from his friend Ranjit of Waithou.
Later at around 9.30 pm, Ranjit came to Tomboi's house to inform that Tomboi had been hospitalised in a serious condition at Thoubal district hospital after he met with an accident.
Ingo further said that Ranjit told Tomboi's family that he came to know about Tomboi's accident after he received a phone call from a commando team of Thoubal district.
Ingo further said that Ranjit also told the family that Tomboi came to his house and left his place after about 20 minutes.
Ingo said that when Tomboi's family reached Thoubal district hospital, the commando team was still there.
As Tomboi's condition deteriorated, he was referred to Shija hospital.
However, he succumbed to his injury at around 3.20 am yesterday.
Ingo said that no external injury except a foot mark on the back is visible on Tomboi's body.
However, he has nine broken ribs internally.
Claiming that Tomboi did not die in an accident, Ingo said that there are many suspicious points which need a thorough probe.
Ingo said that the JAC has resolved not to claim Tomboi's body until the culprits are arrested.
He also said that the post mortem examination of Tomboi's body was conducted at JNIMS morgue in the presence of a Duty Magistrate with full video coverage today.
It may mentioned that angry locals briefly blocked NH-102 (Imphal-Moreh road) yesterday.
After the local MLA arrived at the locality, the locals went to the SP's office and held a meeting with him in the presence of top ranking police officers of the district.
Earlier in the day, locals of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Thangjam Leirak staged a sit-in protest condemning the death of one Sinam Tomboi who reportedly died in a mishap, reports our correspondent.
The JAC constituted against the death has alleged that Tomboi was not killed in an accident but was rather murdered.
The JAC met Thoubal SP and local MLA and a public meeting was also held at Kiyam Thangjam Lampak.
Urging the State Government to probe the matter, the JAC has resolved not to claim the dead body until the Government pull up the involved individual(s) .
