Inter-transfer irks women personnel

Imphal, October 22 2015:
Guardians of personnel of 9th IRB (Mahila Battalion) and police Constable (female/civil) have urged the authority concerned to drop the current system of inter-transfer of women personnel between IRB and civil police.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, some guardians said that many women IRB personnel have been transferred to civil police while many police personnel to IRB (9th Mahila Bn) in the past few months.
Saying that IRB and police are two different security set-ups having different functions and powers, the guardians said that neither they nor their children want this interchange.
They further said that many male IRB and MR personnel are attached with police commandos, however, they still remain as the IRB or MR personnel and their salaries are drawn from their parent battalions.
However, in the case of women personnel, they are directly transformed into police personnel if they are transfered to police although they were recruited as IRB personnel, the guardians said.
The guardians also urged the authority concerned to streamline the service of women personnel of these two security organisations so that IRB personnel may remain as IRB personnel and police as police permanently.
