Bpr, May 14 2022:
In view of the uneasy situation over the issue of Thangjing hill range after Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Henglep unit imposed certain restrictions, Committee on Protection and Preservation of the Historical Rights of Koubru and Thangjing Hill Ranges (CPPKT) organised a meeting cum discussion on Ibudhou Thangjing Hill Range at Moirang Patlou Leikai community hall on Saturday.
The meeting adopted a five-point resolution with the first outrightly condemning the directive issued by KSO Henglep through local dailies and asking the KSO unit to clarify within May 20 .
It also said that the KSO unit should be responsible for any untoward incident that may occur over the matter.
Another point in the resolution said that there is no reason for KSO headquarters not to take action against the Henglep unit as silence of the headquarters proves that it was equally involved in issuing the directive.
The meeting also resolved that government of Manipur must give reply to the memorandum submitted against KSO Henglep unit's communal statement and initiate punitive action against KSO Henglep leaders within May 20 .
The last point in the resolution said that government must take action against anyone who stops people from climbing Thangjing hill and planting of saplings in the hill range.
The meeting was attended by Federation of Haomi convener RK Rajendra Singh, Federation president Sapamcha Jadumani, Ibudhou Thangjing Cheirap Loishang's Khadrakpa Phamnaiba Ingo Dalam Ibochoiba, Ph Mani Singh of Ibudhou Thangjing Cheirap Loishang, Kege Moirang Kanba Apunba Lup president K Padamo Devi, Lup advisor Y Surjit Singh and various other leaders of different organisations including Joint Committee Tiddim president Kulla Singh.
During the meeting, O Mani Singh of Ibudhou Thangjing Phamnaiba Cheirap Loishang said that women from Thangjing hill range are being provided vending space at Moirang market.
People residing at Thangjing hill range must understand that communal enmity is eminent if hill women are denied vending space at Moirang market and prevented them to pass through Moirang, he added.
Mention may be made here that KSO Henglep unit issued a directive on May 5 informing valley people climbing Thangjing hill for pilgrimage, development and tree plantation to take prior permission from village chiefs and authority.
