CM Biren lauds police for restoring peace in state

Imphal, November 05 2021: Chief minister N Biren has appreciated Manipur police for its sincere efforts towards restoring peace in the state by containing insurgency movement during the past few years.

Speaking at the joint passing out parade of 48th batch Civil Police Constables (Male/Civil) and 55th batch Riflemen (MR/IRB) held at Manipur Police Training College, Pangei on Friday, N Biren expressed elation that the state has been able to concentrate on development works since the past four and half years due to restoration of peace and Manipur police had played a great role in making it possible.

Stating that the police-public relation has now become immensely cordial, N Biren pointed out that unlike in the past, people no longer feel uncomfortable and insecure when they come across police and security personnel.

He also appreciated their roles in the 'War on Drugs' campaign.

According to N Biren Singh, police should always remain vigilant to prevent all sorts of unwanted incidents and there is no point in wearing a police uniform if unable to protect people or remain standing as a silent spectator when any scuffle happens or any suspicious crowding comes into sight.

He also exhorted the passed-out personnel to serve the state and the nation with full devotion at their posting places.

The chief minister also asked them to be nice to the public and help them in times of their need.

Though the training began in 2019, the 2722 recruits officially passed out from the college on Friday.

The passing out parade for the two batches could not be held on time due to COVID-19 pandemic.

It is a matter of great satisfaction that not a single case of COVID-19 was detected at the college in the past two years and the credit goes to the director and all the officials of MPTC, maintained the CM.

MPTC director RK Tutusana administered oath to the newly recruited constables and riflemen and presented reports on the two training batches.

Soon after his arrival, the chief minister reviewed the guard of honour and received salute of impressive march past presented by the passing out personnel, who were separated into 18 companies.

Later, the chief minister handed over the trophy and certificate of Best in Physical Training to Yanglem Bishorjit of Toubul Mamang Leikai (Bishnupur district), Best in Musketry to Azhoni Pfozhe of Pungdong village (Senapati district), Best in Law to R Tharmi of Chingiaroi Khullen (Ukhrul district), Best in Allied Subjects to Akoijam Banky Singh of Mongshangei Mayai Leikai (Imphal West), Best in Drill to Takhellambam Sushil Singh of Keinou Thongkha Mamang Leikai (Bishnupur district) and Best in Overall to SN Darung Lamkang of Charang Ching Khunou (Chandel district) .

Ministers, MLAs and high ranking civil and police officers and a huge number of parents, guardians, family members and friends of the passing out personnel were also present on the occasion.
