Local clubs demand rectification of mistakes in electoral roll

Youth Progressive Club Singa, Singa Mathak Modern Club and Singa Ideal Club have jointly resolved to stage agitations if the mistakes in the names and polling areas of polling station 32/15, 32/16 and 32/17 of Yairipok Singa village in Wangkhem Assembly Constituency as published in the electoral roll are not immediately rectified.
In a meeting with media persons held today, SM Firoz, advisor of Singa Ideal Club spoke on behalf of all three clubs and stated that the resolution was made at a meeting held on November 4.He added that even after repeatedly submitting written requests regarding the issue to the authorities concerned by the three clubs, Wangkhem GP pradhan, ward members BLOs and MLA of Wangkhem AC, their appeals had fallen on deaf ears.
As a result they arrived at the resolution to take legal recourse.
Further, a decision was also made to ban intending candidates from Wangkhem AC for the upcoming 12th Assembly election and the sitting MLA from entering Singa village for election related reasons.
The ban will be effective until the mistakes in the electoral roll are rectified, he added.
However, this ban will not apply to any persons involved in developmental work being carried out in the area.
He appealed for a speedy fulfilment of their demand.
