Meth worth Rs 2 crore seized, 4 held

A team of Narcotic and Affairs of Border arrested four 'inter-State drug traffickers' including one woman along with one kilogram of Ice Drug (crystal methamphetamine) worth around Rs 2 crore in the international market yesterday at around 4.30 pm from Mantripukhri and Sekmai area.
According to police, the team received specific information about the transportation of illegal drug items along the Imphal-Dimapur highway in advance and based on it a random frisking and checking drive was carried out along the highway stretch.
The drive was led by Inspector K Bobby under the supervision of NAB, Manipur SP K Meghachandra.
Saying that one Alto car was detained for checking and verification at Mantripukri on suspicion, the source stated that the occupants of the car were identified as Md Azad Khan of Lilong Haoreibi, Mustaqeem of Lilong Chandrakhong and Annie Khumlo Anal of Lilong Haoreibi.

On checking, the NAB team seized 1 kg of Ice Drug from them, it informed.
The arrested persons revealed that they were heading to Sekmai to deliver the drug to one Joseph Th of Khoibee village, Senapati.
The team also arrested Joseph Th in front of PAL Hotel at Sekmai Nongthonband.
According to the source, the NAB team also recovered Rs 1 lakh from Joseph Th.On preliminary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they are inter-State drug traffickers and the seized Ice Drug was brought from Myanmar and is to be transported to another State via the Imphal-Dimapur road.
A case has been registered and investigation is on to establish the kingpin and the chain of 'syndicate,' said the source.
Reportedly, the Court of Duty Magistrate Imphal East has remanded the four drug traffickers to police custody.
