Imphal, November 05 2021:
The passing out parade of the 48th batch civil police constable and 55th IRB and MR riflemen which was held today at Manipur Police Training College Pangei affected public movement in Khundrakpam, Sagolmang Pukhao and Saikul area.
People who had to take detour following the congested roads in Pangei area complained whether the passing out parade could not have been held on any other date but today when people usually visits market to procure items required for Ningol Chakkouba, which is considered one of the largest festival of the State.
L Sanjit, one of the commuters, said with prices of public transport touching an all time high due to rise in fuel price, taking a detour meant spending more money on transportation.
He appealed the Government to organise such programmes on days when congestion will be less and not on or prior to an important festival like Ningol Chakkouba.
Such problems are quite common along this stretch of the road when schools along the road have their examinations or other recruitment examinations, he added.
He further appealed the Government to consider creation of a division road to address the issue once and for all.
