Thoubal, November 05 2021:
Pointing out that the details of polling stations 32/15, 32/16 and 32/17 of Yairipok Singa under Wangkhem AC have been published wrongly in the electoral rolls, three clubs of Singa including Youth Progressive Club, Singa Mathak Modern Club and Singa Ideal club have cautioned of launching democratic protest if authorities concerned fail to rectify the mistakes in the electoral rolls at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Singa, Ideal club advisor SM Firoz Khan informed that the three clubs convened a meeting on Thursday and adopted several resolutions in connection with the publication of wrong names of polling stations and areas in the electoral rolls.
Numerous complaints have been submitted to Wangkhem GP pradhan, Ward members, BLOs, Wangkhem A/C MLA and to department concerned, but the mistakes are yet to be rectified.
As such, legal actions will be initiated against department/official concerned, he cautioned, while adding that Wangkhem A/C intending candidates for the upcoming election including present MLA are not allowed to conduct any election related programmes in Singa.
However, developmental works will be exempted from the restriction.
The meeting resolved to fight jointly against those who act against the resolutions adopted, Firoz said, while cautioning that all the consequences for violating the restrictions should be borne*by the candidates.
