AR assists Indo-Pak war veteran

Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) assisted Sepoy (retired) Letkholal of 5 AR on Friday in continuation of the battalion's endeavour to address issues besetting veteran soldiers.
According to PRO IGAR (S), Letkholal from Lingsiphai village in Churachandpur district is a veteran of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War who saw action in the Battle of Chhamb on the Western Front.
Sepoy Letkholal was facing financial difficulties due to advancing age (81 years) and three daughters staying in faraway villages post marriage.
Assam Rifles reached out to the war veteran and extended assistance, both financial and resource, the PRO said, adding that the elderly couple were overwhelmed by the response and expressed their joy towards the security forces for acknowledging the contribution and sacrifices made by him in the service of the nation.
