Yairipok bandh affects normal life

The 24-hour bandh imposed in Yairipok area of Imphal East district by the JAC against the killing of Hidam Bobby from 5 am today severely affected normal life in the area.
It may be mentioned here that the body of Hidam Bobby (37) was found at a place in front of Universal College, near Tamengkhong on Yairipok Thoubal road in the morning of July 1 .
The bandh was called to exert pressure on the Government and its related authorities to effect immediate arrest and punishment of the killers.
Bandh supporters came out on the streets since early morning and burnt tyres and blocked roads in and around Yairipok bazaar today.
Although there were no untoward incidents reported during the bandh, Yairipok market remained shut and government offices closed for the whole day.
Educational institutions in the area also remained closed, while no passenger vehicle were seen plying on the road.
On the other hand, even after post mortem was conducted on the dead body of the deceased Bobby at JNIMS, the JAC has decided not to take it until the culprits are nabbed and punished.
The JAC is going to stage a sit-in protest at Bamol Leikai Munugol ground, Yairipok on July 3, and it will take decisions for further course of the agitation.
